Q: What are some ways I can get out of my head when I’m feeling self-conscious/fat/ugly etc.?
A: First of all you need to find where is this low self-esteem coming from. Is it your childhood or teenage years at high school? Or maybe you dated the guy who was a jerk to you? There is always the base for all insecurities that you need to look for and take it apart to small pieces so that it won’t be affecting you inner self anymore. What happens if you don’t do psychological work on yourself, is that no matter what enhancements you do to your outer self, you won’t ever be fully confident and permanently satisfied with your own image. Because it was ruined by trauma in the past and now you need to reconstruct the image within your own self. I’d advise to work with psychologist on this issue if you feel it’s leading to the continuous depression and voluntary isolation. If you only feel self-conscious from time to time, maybe try to do more things that make you feel sexy, beautiful, desirable. Write a list of those things and try to do at least one of them everyday. Most likely you will see the change. Remember, it is all in your head and you are the only one who can change the way you see yourself.
