Sensory Deprivation: How to apply it to Sex?

Sex is all about getting pleasurable physical sensations engaging major five senses which are sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. The sensing organs associated with each sense send information to the brain to help us to form signals that are in fact responsible for generating our emotions, feelings, actions. When it comes to sex, we want to have immersive experience that involves touching,  seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting. The sexual sensations are amazing but what if that they can be heightened and intensified?

Sensory deprivation is the deliberate reduction or removal of stimuli from one or more of the senses. It was first largely used in psychological experiments, then later adopted and developed by BDSM community. Studies found that by isolating one sense the other senses become more responsive and astute. For example, if the sight is blinded the body will try to use all its other senses to collect as much information it can to compensate the isolated sense thus becoming more receptive to the surroundings. But how do we apply this to sex?

Sensory deprivation is the deliberate reduction or removal of stimuli from one or more of the senses.

Sight

Sight deprivation can increase sexual pleasure enormously, especially for women.

The reason for this is the differences between female and male erotic arousal. Of the five senses, men become aroused by the sight of something erotic or sexually pleasing such as sexy lingerie or images. Women get aroused by what they feel such as kissing, massaging or caressing.

Use soft and sensual material like satin silk blindfold by Zoe & Alexandra, something that feels good on the skin. Turn the lights off before blindfolding your partner so that it’s a gradual procession, and begin heightening the other senses immediately. Whisper something that you will be doing to your partner on the ear or whatever other sexy things you want to say.  Play around with your tongue,  your partner’s body is your playground. Take as much time doing this, because you need to build anticipation in them.

Touch

While you partner is blindfolded use different touch to give new sensations. Everything will feel for them like for the first time. We recommend to interchange opposing types of touch in succession. For instance, rough followed by soft, fast and slow, hot and cold, firm and gentle. This type of thoughtfully applied stimulation gets our endorphins and adrenaline flowing.

Use Zoe & Alexandra feather ticklers to bring some new sensations to your partner exploring their body very slow and sensually.

You can also use hand ties to restrict your partners moves but the topic of erotic restriction we will be discussing in the future posts.

Hearing

Both in conjunction - sight and hearing deprivation - add the tantalizing elements of fear and anticipation to sexual experience. This way each action of tactile stimulation becomes that much more intense. It also means that you need to be more careful, however, because the potential for overloading becomes much greater.

The best way to play around with your partner’s sense of hearing is by either using an earplug or asking them to put the wireless headphones on. Play something unusual like ambience music with binaural waves or devine voices music. Let your partner to immerse into the magical world that you are creating for them.

Smell

Scented candles, incenses, massage oil work just fine to fill up the room with new and exciting aroma sensations. Good smells makes our bodies more relaxed. The whole idea behind this, is to be extremely quiet (so your partner doesn’t hear you coming or knows what you are doing next).

Taste

To play safe, stick to desserts and fruits your partner likes. This will help build anticipation because whatever is going into your partner’s mouth will remain unknown until they accept it. Grapes, watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, mango. You can also play around with chocolate, mini-cakes, ice-cream, jelly and whipped cream.
